The 'ERA Fortress' curtain lock has been talked
about over the last year perhaps more than any other lock - and
it is a very good lock on all accounts - perhaps why some of the
tools developed to overcome its particular problems can run into
hundreds of pounds - and then we haven't been entirely convinced.

Each set comes with Pick & handle and turner
and handle (lock not supplied). The video demo was made before
we found the more ergonomic handle as seen in the picture above
- which now comes as standard with all sets.
This tool - developed on our very own forum over
the last six months comes at ERA Fortress Curtain Lock Picking
from a completely different angle - literally. The technique is
simple and effective. Practice makes perfect and although it won't
work on all ERA Fortress locks (in our experience this technique
works better on either really new or really worn locks - just
our opinion) you are still going to be able to open a good percentage
of them in seconds or minutes - once you know how to.
It couldn't be simpler - although I recommend grinding
a cover from a Fortress lock (as in the videos) or make a clear
training cover, so you can get the idea. Once you can do it with
your eyes shut you'll be able to do it in a door - AND NOT BEFORE
LOL.

The 'Turner' is used to move the curtain out of
the way and provide access for the pick. The pick is then inserted
round and into the stump alley. At which point it is pushed up
- raising the levers. Pressure on the curtain (remember - it's
the curtain that throws the bolt) then pulls the bolt into the
alley - the lock opens.
It's tools like this that keep UK Bump Keys at the
forefront of the UK lock-picking scene - innovation, radical thinking
and group development. Thanks to all of those of you who helped
with this project. A special thanks goes out to Mr R - you know
who you are, and Sneeka.
