Are Lock Picks Legal in the UK?
Yes. In the UK, it's perfectly legal to buy, own and use lock picks. There's no law against possession of lock picking tools. The relevant legislation is Section 25 of the Theft Act 1968, which makes it an offence to carry tools intending to use them for burglary or theft. In other words, it's about intent - owning picks for locksmithing, security work, or simply as a hobby is completely lawful. Just make sure you only ever pick locks you own or have permission to open.
