It comes complete with everything you need: battery, tension tools, hex key, charger, and box.

We’ve provided lock picking equipment for movies and television productions before. Often, they’ll modify the locks by removing a few pins — making the lock much easier and quicker to pick for dramatic effect. It looks cool, but in real-world locks, you’ll be picking more pins!

Important Setup and Usage Tips:

• Hex Key: Use the hex key to loosen the clamp and insert the picking needle.

• Battery Sticker: If the battery has a sticker on one end, simply peel it off. This sticker prevents the battery from draining during storage. It's worth giving the battery contact a quick wipe after removing the sticker to ensure a clean connection.

• Swing-Arm Adjuster: Near the end of the unit, there’s a screw that adjusts the swing-arm.
  Important: Do not leave this screw too loose.
  If the needle swings too freely, it can easily break inside the lock. The needle should move very slightly — ideally just vibrating. Since it’s tapping tiny brass pins, only minimal movement is needed to be effective.

• Tension Tool: Always insert the tension tool into the lock before using the picking needle. This will become obvious when watching the video. The videos show the tool picking locks in hand, but it's the same process when using the unit on a lock in a door
  The tension tool applies very light turning pressure — you're not forcing the lock to turn. Instead, you're creating a tiny ledge inside the lock. When pins jump into position, they rest on this ledge, allowing the plug (or 'core') to turn.
  Remember: With tension, less is more.

• Common Mistake: Many people — especially in movies — forget the tension tool altogether!
  Without applying tension, the picking needle alone cannot open a lock. The tension tool is essential for creating the conditions needed to set the pins and turn the lock.

• Orientation Matters:
  Watch the direction of the needle movement.

  • If the pins are above the keyway, you want the needle moving upwards.

  • If the pins are below the keyway, you want the needle moving downwards — meaning you’ll need to flip the unit over.
