Electric pick guns (EPGs) are powerful tools designed to quickly and efficiently open pin cylinder locks, making them a popular choice among hobbyists, locksmiths and security professionals.

An EPG uses a motor-driven needle that vibrates against the pins while light tension on the plug lets them set at the shear line, allowing for faster entry compared to traditional lock picking methods. The manual snap gun is the simpler alternative: each pull of the trigger snaps the needle up against the pins once.

They are ideal for situations requiring speed and convenience, such as emergency locksmith work or security testing. They look seriously cool on the bench, too.

How Lock Pick Guns Differ from Normal Lock Picks

Unlike regular lock picks, which require manual manipulation of each pin, lock pick guns work by delivering a quick jolt to all pins at once. This makes them faster and often easier to use, often a few minutes training is sufficient to get basic locks open. Lock pick guns are particularly effective on standard pin tumbler locks and are commonly used for opening residential and commercial doors.
