How a Lishi-style tool works
- Check that the cylinder is a Yale-profile euro or rim cylinder and pick up the matching tool, because each one is cut for its own keyway.
- Apply light tension and lift each pin in turn, using the grid on the tool to see exactly which position you're working.
- Once the plug turns, read the depth of each pin from the decoder marks and note the bitting so you can cut a working key.
